Thank you for your interest in our school's Portuguese Language and Southern Brazilian Culture Program.
One of the most unique places in Brazil, and the world, is the state of Rio Grande do Sul, on the southernmost tip of Brazil. Unlike the popular states of Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, and Bahia, Rio Grande do Sul is more associated with European traditions and Gaucho culture.
Rio Grande do Sul was settled by immigrant farmers from Germany, Italy, and Poland, as well as cattle ranchers from Portugal and Spain, resulting in a much more European-like culture. Today, you can see their descendants working and living on the various terrains: on the wide open pampas, growing grapes in the pine-forested mountains, and farming in the river valleys of this great state.
Even a few well-known celebrities come from this state, including:
Ana Hickmann, Xuxa, Ronaldinho Gaucho e Gisele Bundchen.

Our schools are located in Novo Hamburgo and São Leopoldo. Both cities are in Vale do Sinos, a very prosperous region, about a 30 to 40-minute drive north of Porto Alegre, and an hour's drive from the mountains.
Our intensive Portuguese program immerses you into Brazilian culture, teaching you how to communicate effectively in Portuguese. We combine courses with activities designed for you to practice and learn Portuguese in a "real world" environment.
Both short and long term programs for all ages and levels are available. Not only will you learn the language, but we also arrange tour packages for students, allowing you the time and opportunity to explore southern Brazil and all it has to offer.
